Friendsgiving

A few days before Thanksgiving my close friends and I celebrated Friendsgiving. We all prepared part of the meal and gathered at Jess and Annie's apartment. It was such a fun evening! We ate, laughed,  and said what we were grateful for. I am so grateful to be blessed  with a wonderful group of friends who are so supportive and loving.

A few more things I am thankful for:

I am thankful for my loving husband Chris. I appreciate all that he does for our little family of two. I love so him much and I'm looking forward to many more Thanksgivings with him.

I'm thankful for my parents and all their support and helping me live my dream. I love them and I'm so glad they are my parents.

I'm thankful for my sibling and extended family. I appreciate all the love and we receive from them.

I'm thankful for my church and its teaching. It keeps Chris and I grounded and helps us become better people.

I'm thankful for so much more. I would write it all but this blog post would be way too long.

What are you thankful for?

Come Sail Away

For my birthday two weeks ago (I promise this is the last post involving my birthday) Chris gave me a cleverly written card full of beautiful boat puns and a birthday gift of brunch at the boathouse and sailing in the park.

Dining out at the Boat House is something special. It's located on the edge of The Lake in Central Park next to Bethesda Fountain. There are huge windows, that open up when the weather is nice, that line the wall. As you eat you can look out on The Lake and enjoy the view of the row boats. Sitting there enjoying my brunch it felt as if I was on the set of a romantic comedy. It had the perfect ambience of elegance.

After our lovely meal, we headed across the street to sail boats on the little pond. I had expectations of the boats being run by a motor. It turned out to be the wind that had to do all the work, all I controlled was the rudder to turn left or right. The wind was being temperamental which made it very hard to navigate the boat around the pond. Chris entertained himself by running his boat into the wall several times. Needless to say, we aren't very good sailors.

Birthday Brunch at Bubbys

If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's that I'm a foodie. I love trying new restaurants and exploring what cuisine this city has to offer. I am definitely your basic white girl and that one of my favorite meals is brunch. I enjoy a good brunch outing where you know I'll be taking some artsy photos of my food. So for my birthday brunch, I decided to venture from my basic Sarabeths or Jacks Wife Frieda and try a new place called Bubby's.

This poppin brunch spot is located in the heart of Tribeca. As soon as we got there we were greeted by an amazing aroma of deliciousness and the friendliest host I've ever met in NYC. It was going to be a bit of a wait to get in but they had hot spicy cider to tide us over. As we waited for a table on the adorable lime green rocking chairs we got to know a friendly couple from the neighborhood. The buzzer went off and we were seated at a cozy table in the corner.

As we sat down I took a look at the menu and was pleased with all the yummy choices. Chris was ecstatic when he found out they were having a french toast special. To start I got the hot cocoa and we got biscuits for the table share. The biscuits came and were immediately gobbled up. They had a spread of delicious jams and butter to accompany the flaky biscuits. The hot chocolate was amazing. It had homemade marshmallows and thick creamy chocolate. It coated the inside of your mouth with deliciousness. To our surprise Chris got the french toast of course and I went with the classic breakfast of eggs, pancakes, and bacon. My favorite part had to be the bacon, it was thick cut juicy goodness. I couldn't have made a better choice, I enjoyed every part of my meal. Chris's french toast looked pretty good as well.

My overall experience at Bubby's was great. Every moment was enjoyable from getting a table to paying the check. I'll definitely be back for another brunch outing.

Next on the blog look out for a post about my experience working on the musical Boys from Syracuse. Then a post about my favorite hot cocoa in the city.
