For my birthday two weeks ago (I promise this is the last post involving my birthday) Chris gave me a cleverly written card full of beautiful boat puns and a birthday gift of brunch at the boathouse and sailing in the park.
Dining out at the Boat House is something special. It's located on the edge of The Lake in Central Park next to Bethesda Fountain. There are huge windows, that open up when the weather is nice, that line the wall. As you eat you can look out on The Lake and enjoy the view of the row boats. Sitting there enjoying my brunch it felt as if I was on the set of a romantic comedy. It had the perfect ambience of elegance.
After our lovely meal, we headed across the street to sail boats on the little pond. I had expectations of the boats being run by a motor. It turned out to be the wind that had to do all the work, all I controlled was the rudder to turn left or right. The wind was being temperamental which made it very hard to navigate the boat around the pond. Chris entertained himself by running his boat into the wall several times. Needless to say, we aren't very good sailors.
XO- meg Robertson
